Nanjian Yi Autonomous County is situated at the southern tip of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province. Filled with floral fragrance, it feels like a fairyland on earth. Here, you can find the Yong'an Ancient Bridge, built during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, along with the picturesque Wuliang Mountain National Nature Reserve.

Nanjian is home to a distinctive culinary custom known as "Serving Dance," also called "Dish-Carrying Dance." It is a ceremonial dance performed by local Yi people when serving dishes during banquets, expressing respect for guests and adding festive joy. During the dance, the dish presenter and carrier move from the kitchen to the table, stepping to the rhythm of Yi music and placing the dishes according to a humorous, chess-like arrangement. In June 2008, Nanjian Yi "Serving Dance" was selected for the List of the Second Batch of Representative Items of National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
