The Longqingxia Ice Lantern Art Festival, held annually in Yanqing, Beijing, since 1987, is the largest and longest-running ice-lantern exhibition inNorthChina. The 40th edition opened on Jan. 15, 2026, and runs through early March.
This year's festival brings the fantastical world of the classic Chinese animation Havoc in Heaven to the icy gorge of Longqingxia. More than 20 large-scale themed ice installations and over 150 finely crafted ice sculptures recreate iconic scenes from the animation. Each night, a scheduled Mountain Laser Show lights up the scenic area, and visitors may encounter NPCs showcasing distinctive northern ethnic characteristics.
