One of the signature snacks at Sifangping Night Market is the mini stinky tofu. Golden and bite-sized, each piece is crispy on the outside and soft inside, with a perfect balance of savory, spicy, and aromatic flavors. Bite into one and the thin, crunchy crust gives way to silky tofu as smooth as bean curd pudding. It's often served with crisp pickled radish, adding a refreshing crunch that cuts through the richness.
Another local favorite is Dengzhan Ciba, a specialty from Chenzhou in southern Hunan. The name comes from its unique mold, which resembles an ancient oil lamp. The outer layer is golden and crisp, while the inside is chewy and glutinous. The aroma of scallions, pork, and rice blends beautifully, making it irresistibly fragrant.
Among the night market's most popular stalls is Li Ji Flying Pancake, beloved by locals and visitors alike. The pancake is made fresh on the spot with ultra-thin dough and fresh fruit. The crust turns flaky and crisp, while the filling stays soft and warm. With many flavors to choose from, the banana and durian pancakes remain the all-time favorites.
