Unearthed in 1971 at Saiqintala, Ongniud Banner, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
The Jade Dragon is carved from dark green Xiuyan jade. Vivid in form and exquisitely carved, it enjoys the reputation of being the "First Dragon of China" and possesses exceptionally high artistic value.
This Jade Dragon is among the earliest dragon images discovered in China. Judging from the features of its head, it has a relatively long snout, a protruding nose with an upturned ridge, a flat-cut end, and two side-by-side nostrils, displaying characteristics reminiscent of a pig's head.
