Before entry

Overseas visitors may exchange foreign currency for RMB cash in their home country or region before traveling to China. Each traveler may carry up to 20,000 yuan in cash into or out of the country.

After entry

You can exchange foreign currency for RMB at commercial bank branches, licensed currency-exchange outlets, or self-service exchange machines located at international airports, land ports, and seaports. You can also withdraw RMB cash from ATMs using international bank cards.
