Tangwanghe Forest & Stone Wonders: A Journey into a Snow-clad World
Published: January 7, 2026
Editor: Xinxin

In winter, the Tangwanghe Forest & Rare Stone Scenic Area transforms into a serene, dreamlike fairyland draped in ice and snow. Towering trees heavy with frost, whimsically shaped stone formations, and frozen waterways blend seamlessly into a natural ink-wash painting, creating a landscape of tranquil, breathtaking beauty.

Located in Tangwang county, Yichun city, Heilongjiang province, the scenic area is divided into the Stone Forest Zone and the Landscape Touring Zone. As a national 5A-level tourist attraction and a key part of the Lesser Khingan Mountains, it is renowned for its lofty peaks, dense forests, and thriving ecosystems that are home to more than 1,240 species of wildlife. The area’s spectacular stone forest—sculpted over hundreds of millions of years by tectonic shifts, water erosion, and weathering—adds to its majestic appeal.

In recent years, building on its rich forest resources, the scenic area has further expanded its winter tourism offerings. Visitors can now enjoy immersive experiences such as guided snow-trail hiking, ice-and-snow folk-culture activities, and other seasonal programs. These initiatives have made Tangwanghe a sought-after winter destination, attracting travelers from across the country.
