Hengshan Mountain, also known as the Mountain of Longevity or the Southern Mountain, stands as Nanyue, the southernmost of China’s Five Great Sacred Mountains. Its highest peak, Zhurong Peak, rises 1,300.2 meters above sea level and lies within the territory of Hengyang, the second-largest city in Hunan province. The mountain range spans 72 majestic peaks, forming a breathtaking landscape of rolling ridges and quiet grandeur. In the Book of Songs, the "Southern Mountain" referenced in the line "May your happiness be as vast as the Eastern Sea, and your longevity as enduring as the Southern Mountain" refers to none other than Hengshan Mountain.

Hengshan Mountain captivates visitors with striking natural scenery: emerald peaks layered into the distance, ancient trees growing in abundance, and crystal streams cascading as flying waterfalls. Each season gives the mountain a distinct charm—spring brings rare blossoms to the slopes; summer yields seas of clouds; autumn bathes the sunrise in golden warmth; winter cloaks the landscape in serene snow. The soaring Zhurong Peak, the tranquil Scripture Depository, the secluded Fangguang Temple, and the wondrous Water Curtain Cave have long been celebrated as the "Four Unique Marvels of Hengshan."
