Yuyuan Garden, the only remaining Ming-dynasty garden in Shanghai's Laochengxiang, is the centerpiece of the city's Lantern Festival celebration. The 2026 edition introduces six upgraded themed lantern zones and extends the light-show route from Yuyuan Garden to the Bund. The celebration runs Jan. 26–March 3.
The Folk Art Lantern Area uses a timed-entry system:
- Peak days (Fridays–Sundays, the first to seventh day of the first lunar month, and the Lantern Festival): 2 p.m.–10 p.m., ticket required.
- Regular days: 4 p.m.–10 p.m. (closed on the eve of Spring Festival).
Admission: 80 yuan
