As night falls and the city lights shimmer, Changchun's Xinmin Street quietly dons a dazzling gown of colored lights, transforming into a winter fairy tale.

Every evening from 16:20 to 24:00, thematic light installations such as "Step into Chaoyang, fall in love with Changchun," "Warmth·Nest·Light·Life," "Cradle of New China's Cinema," "China‑chic Culture," and "Changchun—Always charming in all seasons" illuminate on schedule. Between 17:30 and 23:30 in the interactive projection zone "Tales of Light and Shadow," you can step on piano keys to trigger a soft melody or enter "ocean waves" to hear the echo of tides. Large red lanterns hang from street trees, warm white string lights are intertwined among branches, and building facades along the street are lit up, all enhancing Xinmin Street's festive nighttime atmosphere. The Xinmin Light Show, in the courtyard of the Changchun Museum of History and Culture, is a night‑tour must‑see: it runs 30 minutes and begins promptly at 19:00 daily.

Beyond the vibrant light displays, you can also see a variety of ice and snow sculptures along Xinmin Street:

"Flourishing China" ice sculpture

This ice replica of the Temple of Heaven's Altar of Prayer for Good Harvests has a base diameter of 34 meters and is surrounded by 18 ice pillars, each 7.2 meters high. Traditional architectural details—upturned eaves and bracket sets—are meticulously recreated. By day the icy structure resembles a crystal palace; by night the outline of the "Temple of Heaven" glows translucently under the lights.

"Melody" ice sculpture

This installationing eniously embeds a set of ice piano keys into the ground. Crisp "musical notes" sound with each step, turning passersby from spectators into performers.

"Everlasting Spring in Changchun" ice sculpture

A three‑dimensional ice rendering of the Chinese character chun (spring), this sculpture stands 6.3 meters tall. The character evokes the name Changchun ("Long Spring") and symbolizes the city's perennial vitality and enduring vigor.

Other works include the "Cradle of China's Automotive Industry" snow sculpture, the "Ice and Snow Wonderland" ice sculpture, and the "Clean Moon and Pink Snow Carnival" snow sculpture. They are illuminated from 16:20 and remain lit through sunrise the next day.
