Located in southeast Jilin province, Changbai Mountain is the highest peak in Northeast China. Recognized as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site and a national 5A-level tourist attraction, it is famed for its volcanic landscapes, Tianchi (Heavenly Pool), pristine forests, and distinct vertical climate zones.

Core features
From base to summit, Changbai Mountain presents a spectacular succession of vertical ecological zones—from temperate to polar—featuring four vegetation belts: mixed coniferous and broadleaf forests, coniferous forests, Erman's birch forests, and alpine tundra. Each season paints a vivid picture: blooming azaleas in spring, lush greenery in summer, vibrant foliage in autumn, and frost‑covered trees in winter. The area is also rich in geothermal resources, including the renowned Julong Hot Springs.
Core attractions
Tianchi (Heavenly Pool): A volcanic crater lake and the deepest in China, Tianchi's waters shift color with changing weather.

North slope scenic spots
Changbai Waterfall: Plunging 68 meters, Changbai Waterfall thunders in summer and becomes a spectacular ice cascade in winter.

Julong Hot Springs: A group of geothermal springs with temperatures reaching 80°C.
Lvyuan (Green Abyss) Pool: An emerald lake ringed by lush trees, creating an enchanting, otherworldly scene.
Underground Forest: A 3‑kilometer trail through ancient woodlands noted for exceptionally high negative‑oxygen‑ion levels, offering a cool summer retreat.
Xiaotianchi (Small Heavenly Lake): Filming location for the TV series Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain,this tranquil pool mirrors its surroundings.
West slope scenic spots
Jinjiang Grand Canyon: Also called "Little Three Gorges of Changbai Mountain," this deep canyon is famed for rugged rock formations.

Alpine Garden: From July to August the highland tundra erupts into a sea of flowers across thousands of hectares.
Wangchi Lake: A crystal‑clear alpine lake whose pristine waters perfectly mirror the sky and clouds.
South slope hidden gems (Off the beaten path)
Yalu River Grand Canyon: A magnificent gorge marking the border between China and North Korea, characterized by steep, majestic cliffs.

Yuehua Twin Waterfalls: Two connected cascades that descend like silken ribbons against the mountain sky.
