Located in Songpan county, Sichuan province, Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area is celebrated for its "Four Wonders"—colorful travertine pools, snow-capped mountains, deep valleys, and lush forests—along with rapids, ancient temples, and local ethnic customs, together forming the area's "Seven Wonders." The scenic zone encompasses several areas, including Huanglong Valley, Danyun Gorge, Muni Valley, Xuebaoding Peak, Xueshanliang, Hongxingyan, and Xigou. The heart of the landscape lies within the 3.6-kilometer-long Huanglong Valley, famed for its cascading travertine terraces and rich biodiversity. Often hailed as a "World Wonder" and "Celestial Paradise on Earth," it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992.

Main attractions

Five-Color Pools: Comprising 693 individual pools, this is the largest group of travertine pools in Huanglong and the highest-altitude open-air travertine formation in the world. With their low, gracefully tiered embankments, the pools resemble scattered pieces of jade from a distance. In sunlight they shimmer in dazzling hues, creating a painting-like vision of a "fairyland on earth."

Jinsha Pudi (Golden Sand Overfall): A signature travertine feature of Huanglong, this 1,300-meter-long expanse of flowing calcite deposits glows golden in sunlight, evoking the image of a "river of gold" winding through the valley.

Mirror Reflection Pool: The surface of this pool is as smooth and clear as a mirror. Its pristine waters vividly reflect the surrounding snow-capped peaks and forests, blurring the line between reality and reflection in a mesmerizing scene.

Bonsai Ponds: These crystal-clear ponds, enclosed by naturally formed travertine barriers, host miniature shrubs and plants, creating the enchanting appearance of a vast, naturally sculpted landscape-bonsai garden.
