"Strolling the flower fair" is a beloved Guangzhou tradition before the Spring Festival—locals say, "No flower fair, no Spring Festival." From the 28th day of the 12th lunar month through the eve of Spring Festival, people gather at designated venues to celebrate with flowers, cultural displays, and festive commerce. The custom began in Guangzhou and spread across the Pearl River Delta, Hong Kong, Macao, and overseas Chinese communities.
This year, Spring Festival flower markets will open across Guangzhou's 11 districts starting Feb. 4 andrun through the eve of Spring Festival.
Yuexiu's West Lake "Century-Old Flower Market" preserves time-honored charm. Liwan's "Waterborne Flower Market" links Liwan Lake Park and Lychee Bay, with flower-boat parades reviving poetic waterside scenes. Haizhu introduces an innovative "Waterfront Flower Market" near Canton Tower, blending e-sports elements with intangible cultural heritage.
