Snow Town National Forest Park sits in Hailin, Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang province, where the freeze lasts up to seven months each year. The Yaxue Highway to Snow Town is more than a road—it's a sweeping corridor of drifts, frosted trees, and sculpted ice. Entering Snow Town, thick white snow piles on roofs and clings to fences and courtyard walls; from a distance the village looks like clusters of white clouds, everything tucked beneath a snowy blanket.

Snow Town's signature dishes are well worth trying. A hearty, single-pot stew of pork ribs, corn, potatoes, and sweet potatoes simmers with cornbread pressed around the pot's rim so the rich broth soaks into the golden bread. For dessert, frozen pears are essential—bite the skin and sip the clear, sweet juice inside for the full experience.
The most enchanting moment in Snow Town is dusk. As lanterns are lit one by one, the snow-covered town takes on a special charm under the night sky. After 7 p.m., street performances of Northeast Yangko begin, and visitors can join the troupe and dance along.
