If you want to experience the lively world at large hidden in everyday life, you must visit Wuqiao in Hebei along the Beijing–Hangzhou Grand Canal! Wuqiao, Hebei, known as the "Hometown of Chinese Acrobatics," has preserved its traditions for over a thousand years, forming the deep cultural foundation summed up as "from ninety-nine to just learning to walk, everyone in Wuqiao knows a trick." Almost every village has acrobatic performers. In 2006, Wuqiao acrobatics was included in the List of the First Batch of Representative Items of National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Founded in 1987 and held every two years, the China Wuqiao International Circus Festival is the longest-running, largest-scale, and most influential national-level international art competition in China's acrobatic arts field. It has become one of the world's three major circus festivals, alongside the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival in Monaco and the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris, France.
